Download the Cute News Management System

1. Go the download page for Cute News.
2. Download the Cute News zip file.
3. Save it to your desktop.
   
   
   
   
   

How to Extract the Cute News Zip File

Step1

1. Double click to open the Cute News zip file.
2. On the left click Extract all files.

3. Leave all settings intact and follow the extraction wizard. The folder will be extracted to your desktop.
   
   
   

Using a FTP Client to Upload the Cute News Files

Step 1

1. Open your FTP Client.
2. Connect to your web hosting service.
3. For more information on how to connect to a web host read the following tutorials FTP web browser, FileZilla, CuteFTP, SmartFTP, wsFTP.
   
   




Step 2

4. On the right side, the server side locate the public_html folder.
5. Double click to open it.
6. This is where your public website files will reside.
   
   

Step 3

7. On the left side, the local side of your FTP client open the desktop folder.
8. Double click the cutenews.1.4.6 folder to open it.
9. Then double click the Cute News folder to open it.
   
   




Step 4

10. Select all files and folders. To select all files, click the first folder, hold down shift key and select the last file.
11. Right click to upload to the public_html folder.
    
    




 

Setting CHMOD for the Cute News Data Directory

In order for Cute News to allow you to write, edit news and upload images you will have to change the file permissions CHMOD on the entire data directory. For more information on how to change CHMOD in CuteFTP, SmartFTP, wsFTP or FileZilla read the Guide to Changing File Permissions CHMOD Through FTP.

Step 1

1. Locate the data folder in public_html.
2. Right click and choose file permissions or properties.
   
   




Step 2

3. Enter the CHMOD value of 777 in the box.
4. Important! Check the box to Recurse into subdirectories and apply to all files and directories.
5. Click Ok.
   
   

Installing the Cute News Management System

Step 1

1. Open a new web browser page.
2. Type in http://www.yourdomain.com/
3. Hit the Enter key.
4. Click Proceed Installation.
   
   




Step 2

5. The Check Files and Folder Permission page will be displayed.
6. Ensure that all are writable status.
7. Go back and fix any directory that failed.
8. Click Proceed Installation.
   
   




Step 3

9. Your domain should be listed in the Full URL. If it needs to be modified, do it here.
10. Choose an admin username, password.
11. The nickname is optional.
12. Enter an admin email address.
13. Click Proceed Installation.
    
    




Step 4

14. Cute News is now installed in your web hosting account.
15. You can now login to Cute News and customize.
    
    

How to Delete The Install File for Cute News

You will need to delete the install file through your FTP Client for security reasons.

Step 1

1. Open your FTP Client and connect to your web server.
2. In the public_html folder locate the inc directory.
3. Double click to open it.





Step 2

4. Select the install.mdu file.
5. Right click and select to delete.
6. Click Yes to confirm you want to delete.
