Configuring SmartFTP To Connect To Your FTP Hosting Account
Step 1
- In the address bar enter your host address: ftp.yoursite.com

Step 2
- Enter your Username and Password
- Port: 21

Transferring Files Using SmartFTP
Step 1
- Click Favorites - Quick Connect
- Click on your site to connect to your FTP account

Step 2
- Click File - New Local Browser to locate files on your computer

- SmartFTP should now look like the image below. The files on the top are on your computer, the files on the bottom are on your FTP server.
- Under Folders browse the files on your computer to find the ones you will be transferring.

Step 4
- Move to the bottom where the FTP server files are.
- If the Log box is viewable - click the x in the corner to remove it.
- Double click the public_html folder to open it. This is where your website files will be stored.

Step 5
- Highlight the file(s) on your local computer that you will be transferring to the hosting server. You can transfer multiple files by holding down the CTRL key and clicking on each file.
- Drag the file(s) into the bottom server box and drop them into the public_html directory. You can also click the blue download arrow in the middle.

Step 6
- If SmartFTP detects another file in the directory with the same name you will receive this warning message.
- Choose the appropriate one for your situation.
- You can check the box to always do that particular action. Then the warning box will not displayed, but be careful not to overwrite something you need.

Step 7
- To download files that are on the server to your computer you just do the opposite of the local FTP file transfer.
- Select the file(s) you would like to download.
- Drag the file(s) and drop them in the window with your computer files.
- You can click the blue upload arrow in the middle to accomplish the task also.

- A new folder will appear. Type in the name for the directory.
- Your new directory is now created.
